DESCRIPTION:During the Orientation\, we will walk you through the process of fostering\, or fostering with the hope of adopting a child or children in foster care. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about fostering or adopting a child or children in need\, in addition to meeting other families who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. \nThere are many steps designed by the state child welfare system to qualify families to be licensed as a foster or adoptive home. We work within these requirements and bring expertise and added support to help you navigate the system. All our families are trained and licensed for both foster care and adoption. Though some families within our community desire only to foster and others might have the goal of adoption\, we find it most efficient and practical for our families to be dual licensed as we have seen the outcome of cases change as well as family’s desires transform. SUMMARY:Foster A Life Home Run
DESCRIPTION:Event Cost:  \n\nFree to attend this family-friendly event!\n$10 per person to run/jog/walk (T-shirt provided to first 300 runners!)\n\nThere are hundreds of children in the Lubbock area receiving services from Texas Department of Family and Social Services (DFPS). Some of these children can remain with family members\, but many others are placed in foster homes. The HOME RUN is an event that HONORS these children who have been abused and /or neglected. This event shows these children that there are people who care! The HOME RUN also brings awareness of the need for foster homes in the Lubbock area. There continues to be a critical shortage of foster homes in the Lubbock area. Child Placing Agencies are participating in this event so you can obtain information about how to become a foster parent! Charities that focus on children and are involved with DFPS are also participating so you can learn about other ways you can help these children. In addition\, agencies and businesses that care about these children will be there. \n\n\n\nThe HOME RUN includes a fun run\, fun family activities\, art activities and delicious food for purchase. The activities are provided by the Child Placing Agencies as well as the businesses and charitable organizations. \n\n\n\nFoster*A*Life\, the host of this event\, provides services and opportunities for children who are involved or have been involved with DFPS in Lubbock County as well as 17 surrounding counties. \n\n\n\nRegistration begins at 8:00 AM and the fun run begins at 9:00 AM. The event ends at 11:00 AM! This is a 4k route if you run the route twice. (This may be changed)! \n\n\n\nThe cost for the fun run is $10 for all ages until Friday\, April 26\, 2024 at 8:00 PM. On the day of the event\, Saturday\, April 27\, 2024\, the cost is $15 for all ages. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ACTIVITIES!! THE FOOD VENDORS DETERMINE THEIR OWN PRICING. \n\n\n\nThe packet will include a T-Shirt for the first 300 participants. (A T-Shirt cannot be guaranteed for registrations after April 13\, 2024). \n\n\n\nEVENT IS RAIN OR SHINE! \n\n\n\nHELP US “HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK” TO FIND HOMES AND TO HONOR THESE CHILDREN!
